Thousands of faulty fire alarms in the US recalled

An estimated 375,000 units of heat-activated fire alarms are being recalled in the U.S. by a California-based company due to defective fuses that can cause the alarms to fail, according to an announcement posted on the Consumer Product Safety Commission website on October 29.

Reports states that at least four models of Sure Signal Products fire alarms may have faulty fuses. When the affected fire alarms fail to sound during an event of a fire, homeowners are at risk of serious or fatal injuries. Though the recalling company and the federal agency have not receive any complaints of injuries caused by the faulty alarms, they advised homeowners who are currently using the affected detectors to call Sure Signal Products in order to set up a free fuse replacement.
