A January 4 article from the U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) reveal that an estimated 89,568 lbs of beef products from the Huisken Meat Company are being recalled due to a possible wood contamination.
The recall affects certain two pound boxes of “Sam’s Choice Black Angus Beef Patties with 19% Vidalia Onion” that were packaged from November to December in 2015. Reports said the “extraneous wood materials” discovered in some of the meat products possibly came from one of the ingredients during production. The recalling company and federal authorities have not received any consumer complaints of illnesses or injuries caused by the recalled beef patties. Consumers have been urged to dispose of or return the products without consuming them as soon as possible.
