BMW Recalls 2013-2015 C 600 Sport & C 650 GT Scooters

North America BMW has issued a recall through the NHTSA for certain 2013-2015 model year C 600 Sport and C 650 GT scooters. The 600 Sport models affected were manufactured from August 2, 2012 to March 31, 2014 and the C 650 GTs were produced July 30, 2012 to May 29, 2015.  National Highway Traffic Safety Administrations release reads, “the front brake hoses on the affected scooters may kink and crack after turning the handlebars to the full left position repeatedly.”  Potentially 1953 units are affected by the recall.

The Notice of Defect was submitted to the NHTSA on the 5th of November 2015, BMW North America states that following  parts testing between June and September 2015 the company concluded that the PVC protective hose covering on production parts was too stiff, “concentrating the bending stress which could lead to hose kinking.” To-date, there are no known accidents or injuries associated with the fault.
