Volkswagen Recalls 136,000 Jetta’s to test for ABS failure.

Volkswagen Jetta sedans equipped with a five-speed automatic transmission are being recalled to test the antilock brake system;  Approximately 136,000 model-year 2009-10 Jetta SportWagen wagons, Eos convertibles, GTI and Rabbit hatchbacks, and Audi A3 cars; and model-year 2010 Volkswagen Golf hatchbacks equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission.

The Problem: The antilock brake system control unit may fail during ABS or electronic stability control activation, possibly resulting in a loss of vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash.

Volkswagen, which also manufactures Audi vehicles, did not immediately provide an owner-notification schedule. Owners can check with National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety updates for information on the recall.
