Hyundai Recall Certain 2017 Elantra’s for faulty brake assist.

While Hyundai Motor Company is known for and has been awarded 2016 Top Safety Pick+ from the Insurance Institute for Highway, one of its safety features is under recall.   Hyundai is recalling certain 2017 Elantra vehicles.  The affected vehicles may have a brake booster failure that can result in a loss of power brake assist.  Loss of power brake assist could lengthen the distance that is requires to come to a full stop, increasing the risk of a car wreck.  If you have been driving one of the affected vehicle for some time, you know that you come to rely on your vehicles ability to break at a certain distance, when a stand feature of a car becomes unreliable it puts you, your passengers and the general public at risk.

Hyundai believes that as many as 33,803 vehicles could be affected by this recall and has started notifying owners on February 6th, 2017. Your local dealer will inspect and replace the brake system booster assembly free of charge.  Please make this repair a priority if yours is one of the affected vehicles.
